What if, for instance, you have a firewall. Or sharing folders is not enabled. Or the device doesn't show up. Or the device can only play video's in one folder, but not in folders you add later?
Does this also fall under the baby steps you mention?

guys make sure you windows media player 11 and not a old verison

1. Now go to the device you want to share with
2. On the device search for media servers
Search for media servers?? That's the crucial step and your guide gives no clue how to do this.

This worked almost perfectly. I did this with my PS3, I can see all of my music, but it doesn't play, and it doesn't see any of my videos. Any suggestions?

thanks, give my flash drive stcik to my uncle so he could get a game off it. This is alot easier anyway

thanks this was a lot easier than using the ps3 media software but i cant get my music to play i can watch my videos i have it set to allow everything any suggestions

Is your Router uPNP enabled?
Do you have all the ports open on your Ps3?
Do you have a firewall?

I take it you mean you cant do it?
