Since Lawler is a 28 time champion that would make him the greatest of all-time.
-
might as well have called this the Jerry Lawler Heavyweight championship...what a joke. no wonder it was not recognized in Japan.
-
Lawler had a Unified belt made after SuperClash 3 and that is the one seen in the early history of the title. I'm not exactly clear on what happened, but after the Snowman won it, he refused to return it to Lawler and thats when the USWA started using the old AWA title belt.

@AmericanNohbuddy Almost exactly.I believe the side plates are different.Although shaped the same. They don't have AWA markings on them.

Ah I see. Even though it's obviously the same belt.

@designermetal1 I do have videos that have over 1,000 views some 2 & 3,000 I think the Cruserweight title has over 7,000 views. The Old defunt belts get lots of views where the current belts dont because i take the videos down when they are updated

Why did they use the AWA world title belt for the championship? I think it still said AWA on it for all those years.

@AmericanNohbuddy The Belt is infact Lawlers AWA World Title belt he won in 1988 but had the AWA markings painted over. Lawler was stripped of the AWA Title Jan 89 for not defending it in the AWA area when in reality Lawler refused to because he never got paid for Superclash 3. To this day Verne Gagne never paied Lawler
