The Only Black Student has taken me on an amazing journey over the past few years. What started out as an idea to help a few students I worked with has turned into powerful conversation from one group of students to the next.

  • are you from Seattle? that is where i grew up. i like the video

  • @yewolloset Yes, I lived in Seattle since I was 10. Thank you for your appreciation of the video.

  • I am a polynesian student at UW and I wish I had the only poly student my freshman year. Truth be told though, many of the struggles of navigation are all similar for minority students, main difference for us being that since our culture is still relatively new to other minorities, we seem to be about 50yrs behind everyone else. More important then students reading this book, faculty and staff need to make sure they give it a look.

  • @Konulaka sounds like you should be writing "The Only Polynesian student" for the students from Hawaii coming to the Mainland.

  • Thanks for stopping by Lull! We really valued your insight and will look forward to future communications. Keep us updated!

  • @ImFromSeattle Thanks for having me. I had no idea how fun working with the Community College level would be.

  • proud of you bro

  • @altast02 Thank you for finding value in it :)

  • great book and this vid is helpful! thx mr Mengesha, for creating this much needed dialogue on our campus's!!

  • This book is pretty much spot on,

candid and upfront without being harsh or stereotypical.

the level of light humor also helps add a much needed amount of perspective to the whole thing thus bringing it all together. definitely a must read.

  • @LVJ19 you are too kind. Thank you!
