Bo is Portuguese Water Dog ("Portie"). The Obama daughters wanted a dog, but it had to be a dog that didn't aggravate one of the daughters' allergies. Ted Kennedy, a Portie owner himself, recommended the breed, since it's fur is non-allergenic. He invited the Obama family to his house during the transition and let the girls meet his Porties. They loved the dogs, so Kennedy arraigned through a breeder he knew to have a Portie puppy delivered to the WH after the Obamas moved in, as his gift.

I hope they take Bo with them whenever they leave the WH rather than give him away like other first families have down in the past.

A dog is a perfect method to see if someone is fit to lead, be assertive, give discipline and affection at the right times.
These folks can't even walk a dog properly but rule over a country with over 300mil people, doesn't sound smart to me. (Not that we have a competent leader, it just pisses me off folks, my advice to the Satoro's, watch the dog whisperer:))
