About a week ago, "78Revolutions" posted a busted Magnavox console stereo that he got for free. It has a Micromatic record changer which was not working because of the motor was busted. It also has an AM/FM stereo which it was working, but the tuning light is dead. And last but not least, the 8-track player, it was working fine, but the two bulbs are blown including channels 1 & 2.

Sadly, that video is gone from YouTube, because he took them down due to this poor Maggie which is not in the trash. If you haven't seen this video before, here it is once again. Thanks to "78Revolutions" for this lost video.

  • My Grandma has one of these. Any chance you know what model it is?

  • Anybody have an idea what kind of indicator light bulb these old magnavoxs require? Eiko - 47 Mini Indicator Lamp - 6.3 Volt - 0.15 Amp - T3.25 Bulb ?

I cannot read the side of the bulb!

    tks

  • @Nivicoman Solid state.

  • @CenTexVideo Tube or Solid State?

  • Corrosion can seize motors and anything with bearings. I got a JVC Nivico turntable going by pulling the sector gear off of it's arbor and sanding off the white corrosion. The gear is "pot metal" and had corroded against the steel arbor (galvanic corrosion). Cleaning it and lubing it up with white grease fixed it and I cleaned and lubed everything else as well. The speed change knob was seized with dried up oil. Heat and solvent took care of that. Now it works like new (1971).

  • I guess there's a lot of those Diana Ross "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" cartridges. It was my very first 8-track.

Look neat! Console radios are my favorite. I have three.

  • Did you fix this console . I wish I seen your video sooner , I could of help you repair the record changer . First all you had to do was oil the motor , That model changer has a problem with the plastic gear not work . I fixed many of them like this . first like I said you oil the motor . next you clean the tuner controls , like volume , treble , and balance . Like I said I could of helped you out .

  • Did you double check that the packing screw on top of the motor wasn't tightened? It will lock the motor for shipping.

  • I plane to make a wood case for the 8 track as a component from mine and will show it in the future

  • I scraped that same console you can save the 8 track it will work with out the amp

It has a 110 volt motor and rca cables on it so save it It is a heavy duty tape player The amp part was junk and the speakers were small in that one .

the chicken wire on the front of mine looks like it gos in a barn, ugly
