How: Installed using PlayOnLinux script.

Status: Works good when deactivating/lowering shadow settings (it's very slow with shadows on max). Everything else was on max settings. :)

The screencasting program affected the loading pauses in the races very negative.

  • 1 question... Is gaming in linux using wine FASTER than gaming in Win7???

  • No.

  • so gaming in win7 is better than in wine.

  • Yep, but if you prefer Linux as OS for all other areas (as I do), Wine is great. :)

  • Tnx, Im just glad gaming is possible with linux, so i can finally leave windows behind.

I think im gonna dual boot with win7 for lan parties :) and ubuntu for everything else.

  • Yeah, that is basically how I roll.

hi How r u... im new on linux and id like to know how do u install the game because ive been tring for while and nothing... i download i iso and on Win... runs perfecly.. but when i try to install it on ubuntu is almost impossible for me... firs i try to install it using PlayO.... V 1.38. and nothing, the i try using gmount.. and i thing is got installed but i cant run it.. the screen get black ,,,, by the way im using Ubuntu 10.10 and my pc. hpdv6t,4G DDR3,Nvidia 230, I7..help

  • what distro are u using?

  • @TheSnyperxD Linux is a very different OS and programs designed to work in windows would not natively run on Linux (as Linux programs wont run natively on windows), wine is a software that attempts to mimic windows features (and does it very well) to help various windows programs could run under Linux. To make things simple, wine allows you to run .exe or .msi files under Linux (games included).

  • @TheSnyperxD it simply allows you to run some windows programs on linux. As I understand, it is kind of like an emulator. (I just dual boot)

  • why not dual boot with windows

  • k i am "new" to linux for the fact that i have used windows all of my life

so forgive me for asking this...

but what exactly does wine do??

    does it like boost performance

or just let u play like games for windows and stuff

a NICE reply would be nice

    mean comment= *face palm*

  • dual booting and using windows for gaming works. though it's nice to see a great title able to run on linux via wine. once gaming gets easier/better on linux in the future there'll be no need for windows to game with at all.

  • What is the name of the gnome theme that you use?
