HIKE (Easy/Moderate) "CHILD FRIENDLY" "REQUESTS" to give out the exact location of the trailhead to this hike. I AM SORRY, I can not do so in RESPECT for da aina and da locals who have told me not to as well as this is an UNSAFE location during Flash Floods and heavy rain, also the land is owned by the Board of Water supply...Please respect that. If you wish to find this trailhead you must do so on your own. This secluded and easy trail to Hamama Falls in Kahaluu at the back of Waihee Valley is great for families. This easy to get to gem of a waterfall is in a restricted area on Private Property and that is why most folks have not been there and tourists have never heard of it. You must pass through a locked fence to your left where a large hole has been cut for hikers to get through. This property is owned by the Board of Water Supply and the truth is the Board just doesnt want you messing with the water supply, swimming in the LARGE POOL at the start of the trail or trashing the place so if this is your first time heading on this trail respect the land please. The Board seems to be cool with locals that use the path for walking or exercise. This is a 3 mile total hike. Its about 2 hour total hike time depending how long you stay at the falls and you may just want to stay for a while and have lunch. A bonus feature of the hike is a second waterfall called Waihe'e Falls. That Hike starts about 100 yards away from Hamama Falls on your left down a hill next to a large vine Banyan tree and across the stream. Its a rough trail through the forest to find it and many have got lost here because the trail is so faint because so few travel it. Any trail that is unmarked is not wise to take unless you are with those who know what they are doing and where they are going. Never go off a main trail if you are not sure. You can get lost within a short walk off a trail, trust me! I did and have MARKED Waihe'e Falls, but locals don't always take kindly to trails being marked and I have no issues with that...Waihe'e Falls trail is a PIG HUNTING TRAIL...be warned...DO NOT TAKE DOGS on this trail on Hunting days...Boars are present on trail and I have crossed paths with them several times.

  • I am definitely doing this waterfall hike next!!!. I love living where i live. So just wondering, what kind of gear do you use for video work. Just got me a gopro and made my first video of Lanikai Pillbox. Im learning little by little. YOur videos rock!

  • @jayvogkoz Hey Braddah, look at my main page the side bar where it says "ABOUT WAYDE'S WORLD" and Click "MORE" to see what I use...I use the GoPro as well...Couple of hints with the GoPro...I cked out your Pillbox VID...You did a good job! First: focus on not making sudden movements with your head if you have it strapped on your head...use your head like a TRI POD...slow movement and PANS...Don't keep your GoPro on for long periods of time, it can Fog up because the GoPro Heats up in the case

  • The land is private - sort of. The land is owned by the State, but leased or "under control" of the BWS. Yes - they are cool with people hiking. I see them and they just wave. You have the name correct as Hamana. Waihee stream and falls is next to the banyan tree trail. I've been to the second falls. It is the same size as the main one, but much more covered and secluded. Very pretty to find. The interesting part is that the falls are fed by a spring and not a stream above them.

  • @eric5121 Let me know when you want to hike the second secret falls here...I need to film it...Shoots...WIll be busy for the next few months so wanted to give you a heads up if interested in doing it.

  • amazing falls and video waydes. where is the trailhead exactly? ie. the coordinates / any info you have? i'll visit the island next week & would definitely do the hike. thanks in advance.

  • @YoParadiseIslander Sorry Islander...this is a private Hike...I can not give out direct information on where this is located...I have gotten sum beef from locals for outting the location of these falls...I have choosen to respect their wishes and not reveal the exact location to this hike...You must work with the info I left in the description. I hope you understand my choice to respect the locals wishes. They don't want you knowing about this hike...Nor does the Board of water supply!

  • Some of my neighbors and our family did this hike today. It's beautiful and easy for kids (we had 4 little ones with us ranging from almost 2 to 5 yrs old). Another hiker told us that you had to take a trail that went down by the banyan tree to get to the other falls (we decided not to because it was more difficult--especially with all of our kids). I actually found this hike in a book called Oahu Revealed.

  • is this on oahu near kahaluu

  • is that near kahaluu

  • How come you didn't swim? Was the pool not big enough?

  • @WAYDESWORLDHAWAII i understand and will try to find. thanks anyway for sharing the other videos.
