Love it! I have a 6 month old IC PWD girl. SHe is dark brown and gorgeous and very smart! To the "breeder" if you are at all involved with the PWDCA then you would know about the improper coat gene. In fact, there is an article at the PWDCA website on Improperly Coated PWDs.

Our Echo is a joy, will be doing obed. and agility work soon! Keep the pics and videos coming!

I wish we could get more into agility & I've also wanted SO much to attend a water trial class that our local PWD club holds..some day! Both of our Pups love learning things. Where is your Breeder from? We got ours from PA (where we live)

The black one doesn't look like a PWD. Long muzzle, very straight coat, and odd torso and haunches, shape-wise. They look like maybe they're a mix? But not a full PWD, looks like something else (don't know what). Brown one though, definitely a PWD.

Sorry if I seem opinionated. I'm a shower and breeder, never seen a PWD to look like that. I'd say there's no PWD genetics in them, but you never know because of their rarity what breeders will do... :)

Opinionated??? You just don't know as much about the breed as you think! Ask any breeder that REALLY knows about Porties. Luckie is a 100%, AKC registered PWD. She just has the 'improper coat' gene. Breeders refer to them as IC pups. So now you know...there are 3 different coats on Porties..curly, wavy, and IC If you are still feeling 'opinionated', just google 'improper coat Portuguese Water Dogs

We like the term smooth coat b/c there just isn't anything improper about her!

Our breeder is also from PA. What was your breeders name?

She is from a breeder in El Cajon, CA. We live quite a ways north, so we planned a vacation to the area and picked her up on the way back! :) I will try to be more youtube literate and see if I can get some vids of her up. She is a pretty girl, same amount of coat as your boy but shorter nose yet- of course she's still growing. Can we PM somehow and be IC pwd buddies? LOL YOu don't see many people talking about them but they are so awesome!

Is the black dog an imperfect coat ?? Or is this a mix ?? They are both sweet dogs and quite a pair.
