In Loving Memory of Jerry Garcia (August 1, 1942 -- August 9, 1995). Really nice soundboard recording of the Grateful Dead at the Oakland Auditorium on December 28, 1979

  • Great stuff, Jerry was a Genius!!!

  • Love this version!!!

  • thank you for the video image and post. incredible song live terrapin station

  • Terrapin brings back so many memories of days long past. Nothing has changed this tune still sends me sailing away into another place, no drugs used or needed. Just a great song, hypnotic. This will be one to work on with my guitar someday :)

  • @GSRJosh33 It's a two part kind of bridge so that makes sense!

  • Jerry conceived the idea for the song "Terrapin Part One" while driving across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. Excellent share, Thank you.

  • Smoking version!

    My all-time fave Dead song.

I tried to explain the end / climax / coda to this song to someone once as a Moebius band - it keeps looping and circling back into/onto itself. I think they could have played it forever. It's not coincidence (to me, anyway) that the closing starts with "I can't figure out (Terrapin) if it's the end or beginning..."

Thanks again for posting it. You made my night.

  • inspiration, move me brightly. thats encouraging, crispy soundboard this is good stuff, fuckin' amazing

  • the best live recording of any song ever played. the solo is note for note, the song of my life.

  • @420mar11 - Are you sure? I have the audio files and its listed as 1979-12-28 - Oakland Auditorium Arena. The best way to be sure of course is for us to check live archive.
