darren mcgavin was great as mike hammer too.he was a tough guy in that show and didn't take crap from anyone,he had some good fight scenes as mike.as kolchak he was a bit of a wise ass and a con man,but that's my favorite role by him.

I actually downloaded a midi file last year, with both the main theme and incidental music, playing it constantly while I was writing a Kolchak fan-fic. It must have really inspired me, as folks keep saying they could hear Darren McGavins voice-over while reading it.

I also used to have the original Jeff Rice paperback novel, years ago, but it went missing awhile back and would probably be a biach to replace - durn it.

hasta el día de hoy, que tengo más de 40 me parece fuera de serie...Carl Kolchak con su sentido del humor peculiar y la trama de cada uno de sus capitulos mantenía petrificado en nuestros asientos a toda mi familia. Muy bueno!!!

agreed PinkOld. "The Spanish Moss Murders" freaked me out as a kid. If I recall, the series was on Friday nights, 9pm (where I lived in Denver, Colorado). Every week my parents would reluctantly let me watch it and warn me of nightmares. Every week I was back, getting the crap scared out of me again. What a great show.

After the New KOLCHAK NIGHT STALKER series bombed here came the original series on DVD for me to buy at the store!! Yay for dvd, I got all the oroginal episodes as well as the 2 Kolchak movies THE NIGHT STALKER and THE NIGHT STRANGLER! DVD is like a time machine into the past when things moved slower so you could take your time to enjoy the stories and they were better developed then most of the high tech stuff you have now!
