I can die happy now- this is the way it looked at Green Valley Raceway in the early 60s when we were in High School...those scenes and smells of nitro / rubber are burned into your mind forever- nothing like the 60's for music and drags....girls too, for that matter....everybody remember Linda Vaughn?

Tom McKwen, a year or more, before he ever got the nickname "Mongoose" for kicking the Snake's ass all over SoCal strips. His partner, at this time, was a legend when it came to turning wrenches ~ Gene Adams. This was also a year before "zoomie" headers were introduced. And The Snake, in this VID, was driving one of the most well known top fuel cars ever ~ Greer-Black-Prudhomme. Motor man Keith Black, along with Ed Pink and Dave Zeuschel, were that era's best at building engines.

this was THEEEE best era in drag racing EVER
so many cool car's, and time's were different in the 60,s and early 70's,
-
Smoke 'em if you brought 'em!

@OzzInter They maybe of been slower but image if they did burnouts back then and like a dragster of 2 day of engine ontop rare axle they might beable beat i mean 185mph back in 60s DAMN
-
In those days there were no burn-outs.
Just come to the line and go on the green!
The run was done with essentially cold tires.
Notice how "squirrelly" the cars were off the line.
The cars were much slower, in MPH, but were more unpredictable to drive than
todays high tech TF and TA dragsters
