I have literally worked my ass off building a chicken tractor for my 2 new chicks and one of the hens that is getting beat up in the big coop. It still needs work, but I was in a rush to get the chicks out of the house. "They was Stankin'"

check out pinetar's channel, he was my inspiration to get off my ass and get to work.

  • If you're like us, excellence in quality is not always needed. We made our chicken tractor out of scraps...bits from here and there. It was important that we get it done quickly and not spend a lot of money. You'll never see a picture of it on the cover of Architectural Digest, but it suits our needs perfectly! LOL

  • @katzcradul - thanks, the only thing i had to buy was the nuts, washers and the threaded bar (all for the wheel assembly). I'm going to invest a little more money in it to allow for easier towing. I'm already finding uses for a second and third one.

  • I think you did pretty good for your first time. I love working with wood. I think your chickens will like it.

  • @destroyahdes Thanks, so far they're still paying rent. LOL

  • Whats so good about a chicken tractor other then a regular chicken coupe?

  • @paidskn1488 - a regular chicken coop is typically a stationary building. A chicken tractor is a coop, typically on wheels or skiis that can be moved around. Generally, it will provide access to fresh grass for the chicks to eat and fertilize.

    Thanks, -j

  • @bctruck - A man of your caliber...I'd let you stay in the big coop. I'm praying that swedish crap doesn't let you down. I'd hate to hear that you grew up and got a real job. seriously, I'm praying for you.

  • @VivianRinSC - i sure can tell you about an overgrown garden... Thanks, I'm trying this out and if the dogs give me any trouble, i'll attack that on two fronts. Strengthening the tractor and flinging some bb's at the dogs. It's funny, I already have found uses for maybe two more tractors. My neighbors are going to hate me....More. LOL

  • Nice work!it's big enough that I might could curl up in a sleeping bag when I come up to eat all your leftover tomatoes. I wish I could have chickens. There might be a drastic change in my life very soon. One more major mechanical failure and I'll have to get a regular job. I'll be able to have chickens if that happens.

  • You've done a great job with your first tractor. :) I'm sure you'll modify this many times or even make other versions. Looks like a fun project. Hope those dogs stay away though. My husband insists upon a full fence due to his childhood where his chickens were massacred by dogs. I could really use a chicken tractor for my garden. I've let it go too long and it's way overgrown.
