Beautiful.

This is the definitive cast of performers. Hand picked, performing the full work, and directed by the maestro. Get the CDs if you can. Close your eyes and rejoice. Because no other recordings will ever compare. The ending is the more perfectly balanced C Major chord ever recorded. Thank you so much for sharing with us!

@rvsns Thank you. I do believe this is the LSO - I've been in this hall.

School (high school) performed this tonight with the Chamber Sinfonia (highest orchestra class in the school) and some Winds/Brass from Wind Ensemble (highest band class at school) and it was absolutely amazing, nothing like this though!

@peacocktravels I didn't hear any terrible singing. I thought it was breathtaking.

I miss Jerry too.. such a loss

I only meant that he died young for a conductor, Klemperer 88, Von Karajan 81,Monteux 89,Stokowsky 95 and Toscanini almost 90. Life expectancy in most Western Countries is almost 80 for men, the Bible talked of three score year and ten being a reasonable life expectancy now it is a lot more and at 72 many people still have their health and marbles.
I am 64 next week and feel 24.

@135yearswaiting While I believe Bernstein was a great composer and conductor, how can you call 72 young?!?!
Simply glorious music. . .we miss you terribly, Lenny.

Reckon Lenny loved Candide more than West Side Story. It is a wonderful work, this song especially moves me to tears every time I hear it.
Poor Lenny died far too young, the nicotine weed claimed another genius. Genius is not, in my opinion, too strong a word to describe this man who was great at everything he did. Just wish he had had more time to write more music.
