This was my Necky Dolphin kayak. I picked up another Perception Prism so I sold this one fully outfitted with fishing gear for $525 last month. It was a great kayak and handled the rough water well. The rudder helped tremendously when drift fishing and fighting the current through Sebastian inlet.

  • Yes, the Malibu Two is a very wide kayak compared to the Dolphin so it might take a little getting used to. I have had this Dolphin out when hurricane Irene passed through. The gusts reaching 35mph and rough waves didn't have much effect on this kayak. The rounded bottom allows the waves to pass under smoothly without rocking the kayak, but in the same turn, the rounded bottom makes it feel a little tipsy when sitting still. Good kayak but the hatches are way too small to load your gear easily.

  • you guys still paying attention to this thread at all? i have an malibu two ocean kayak and am debating on getting a necky dolphin for an easier and quicker time on some trips up the coast. you think it would handle well enough on rough ocean water? i'd have some gear in the hatches.

  • @thatstheguys ...and if you look at the kayak at 0:26 seconds you can see how it rides fully loaded with beer, ice, 60lbs of precut firewood, tent, clothes, fishing gear, sleeping bag, cooler, propane burner, food and a chubby elf on top. This photo was taken during a camping trip to an Island in Canaveral National Seashore for the shuttle launch.

  • Nice. I have one in granite color. probably about 15 years old. I also have an Ocean Kayak Trident 15. I always use the Dolphin as a buddy kayak. I still enjoy using it every now and then. I like the way you have it outfitted for fishing.

    It gives me some ideas.
