ogreatone - I agree with you. This pattern is very aesthetic, clean and balanced but lacking hip thrust and power in the kicks and hands. What makes it look good is his definition, he stops his blocks and is rhythmic in his sinewave. Very nice, would love to see it with more power!
My school also preforms both Juche and Ko Dang, I enjoy performing forms so the more the better! Great performance by the way! ITF Taekwon-Do both new and old style!
Actually...Ko Dang was dedicated to a Christian resistance leader, named Cho Man-Sik He went on to form the Democratic party of Christians. When the Soviets took over in 1950, the communist executed him as the persecution of Chistians began. In fact only 2 days before allied forces reached the prison Cho Man-Sik was in, he was executed. So the North adopted juche.
@ttaggart12345 the 4th is juche which is almost a 'more difficult version of ko dang'. Not all clubs recognize both of them, however, most of the clubs recognize juche moreso than ko dang, and even more will teach both.
This pattern keeps going out of my head. Its one of the nicer patterns to learn, but yet i cant keep it stuck up here. This video has helped. Thank you.
Old school ITF does Ko-Dang, new does Ju Che, and some do both. If you read through the comments you will understand the history of the change. My dojang does both to honor the past and the present. (OUTSTANDING performance by the way!)
