For a big, fat, scary demon that he is, Cuchulainn isn't that difficult to defeat.
Being spread out in this battle is important thanks to all of the AoE spells that he has and their status effects. This is actually the first time I've played FFT where Cuchu did Biora on my party. In all of my other playthroughs, he always used Nightmare on my party first.
Take a look at this page for a list of his spells and the status effects that they inflict.

The most important thing about this battle, in my opinion, is killing him before he can kill your party. Holy is extremely effective against Cuchu, and a good Holy or two will probably be enough to kill him. Wearing debuff-resisting equipment may help for this battle, but I can't really comment on that since I didn't use them. Again, that Biora did catch me by surprise since I really anticipated Nightmare, and I may have been lucky that Cecily didn't get Stoned.
My units, once again, are still the same.
This is the original PSX version of FFT with the PSP translation thanks to a patch that can be found (along with many others) on FFHacktics.com.
Unfortunately, no. Saving in a series of battles, like these Lionel battles, prevents you from leaving until you finish.
