20/9/09 - Yes, I found a pub called The Sherlock Holmes. Went there for dinner my last night there. Food wasn't bad - but the waitress got my order wrong and decided to take it out on me. Man...some people. But I didn't let her ruin my night! I got to meet John Barrowman later!
@delacote60 - Wow. I did not know that. Just saw the place and thought it was cool. The waitress was a little beat up, I guess. That and I did find a few times that people were sort of like blaming me for Britain's involvement in the war. That was kind of weird. But, water off a duck's back - and my money was spent elsewhere. The study sounds cool - and awfully creepy...but then again, I am that kind of a girl! hehehe!

I'm sorry to hear about the waitress's behaviour. I hope it didn't taint your trip too much. This pub used to be called "The Northumberland Arms" but changed its name in 1951 for the Festival Of Britain, which was held on the other side of the nearby Hungerford Bridge. I don't know if you saw the 1951 reconstruction of Sherlock Holmes's study, preserved behind glass upstairs - I found it strangely compelling/bizarre as a time capsule from 1951 of a fictional time capsule from Victorian London.

That wasn't so bad - it was the waitress making it out like it was my fault and then ignoring me afterwards. Then she got someone else to serve me the food and ignore me the rest of the time I was sitting there...it was very rude.
So, I figured, she wants to make me feel unwelcome...then I'll leave her a two pence tip. Yeah, I know...I was being generous...I should have just left a penny.

I ate there with my mother and quite liked it. Sorry they messed up your order.
