In this series of videos I propose a Theory of Consciousness that attempts to bridge the explanatory chasm that exists between our first-person realities (i.e., the way it feels to think) -- and our neurological knowledge of the way the brain works.

In this video, I demonstrate how the mind compares some object in the real, external world, against a remembered version of a similar object.
I also address some details and caveats.

  • Excellent series Jeff.

I dont think it explains the first-person side of the chasm, or the actual experience of qualia, but it is an excellent cognitive model of the neural architecture of the objective side of the chasm; or what happens in the brain when a first-person qualia experience is occurring.

I cannot see any way qualia can be explained within the paradigm of materialism. There is in my view a missing component - a persona non grata - in the paradigm of materialism.
