www.oconnorgreentoursnyc.com takes you on tour by bike, pedicab (rickshaw) and New York's wealth of trains.

All the way uptown we're told...
"This is an A train to 207th Street."
A few minutes later...
"This is 168th Street. Last stop, last stop. All passengers off."

This happens to us after midnight on weekends at 168th, and at Atlantic Avenue too. A seemingly surprise halt to the train. Seemingly.

But there are extra service people on the platform. I asked why it wasn't in the Weekend Service Changes sheet (shown), and she said she didn't know.
They never know, but they will "help" you by giving you a number to call -- after you leave the subway -- which allows you to leave a message at a weekdays-only number!

The platform service person knows nothing. The A Train conductor knows nothing. And there's a shuttle train. It's all set up in advance, yet NOBODY KNOWS A DAMN THING.

I'm angry about this ongoing deceptive practice. I'm not asking for the MTA to stop doing necessary repairs. I'm telling them they must mention it in the Weekend Service Changes. I'm telling them we're human beings and we deserve to know the truth.

An omission is the same as a lie. If I were your boss, and you lied to the customers, I'd fire you!

  • Bruticus73, I didn't like your condescending "Sucks to be you, get a car!" tone. What really sucks is to be a person who cares so little about his fellow man that he can only insult someone in a predicament.

I have a car but can't always take it to work and back. Whether I have one or not, tens of thousands of others don't. It's better I show this abuse, to stick up for the thousands who are being lied to, than to keep silent or opt out.

    TGS

  • the mta doesn't have to tell you, you have to get off your lazy ass and read the signs in every station!

  • U spelt wrong : Dyckman st. Not Dickman St. lol

  • l am so sorry this happened to this also happened to me on the 1 train going to times sq 42 st instead it terminated at 72 st!

  • there is an A that runs in the morning that ends at Dickman (i think i spelled it right) street.

  • why we they have maximum service at one am. maybe you should plan activities earlier.

  • NYC. Gotta love it!

And yes, I'm being a BIT sarcastic here.

  • Dang all of those people there at 1:00am? Wow.

  • Sucks to be you I learned the transit system at the age of 11 when my mother lived in rockpark. If its one thing I know NOT to do is take a train during the late nights/weekend hours. Get a car and learn the neighborhoods for parking you would be less pissed lol.
