Steven Johnson recounts the life of Joseph Priestly, scientist and theologian, who discovered oxygen and played a key role in the founding of the Unitarian Church. Joseph Priestly was a close friend of Benjamin Franklin's and walked in the same social circles as many of the Founding Fathers who according to the author thought highly of him. This event was hosted by Politics and Prose bookstore in Washington, DC.
I ordered this book as soon as the program was over and finished it last night after two days of being trapped inside because of the heat. Although some of the science stretched my mind a bit, the writing is so lucid and the premise is so intriguing, it was difficult to put the book down. A book to pass on to friends. Thank you.

Great video. Well done, you are a very good speaker, interesting, informative, and humorous. My only complaint ... it's way too short.
Thank you.
