SA56 ZFM stupid minicab attempts rant about riding in the gutter during overtake

This numpty attempted to shout some ranting nonsense about bikes belonging in the gutter. Which only proves his ignorance of gov recommended riding and road positioning. 6 miles into my uphill commute home on a hot sticky afternoon I was not in the mood for his rubbish so I pointed out the camera which shut him up. Normally I ride far to far left on this road but this numpty was tailgating me so I took a primary position to prevent a stupid close pass in the lane I was using. Numpty also sounded his horn but not picked up due to road and wind noise. Absolutely no excuse for this crap as he had a perfectly good outside lane to use.

@plaladinmatt You make a good point. I am in primary position and I would normally take secondary after the junction. I positioned myself to discourage a close same lane skim past because I spotted the taxi in my mirror undertaking other vehicles then tailgating me heading for a squeeze between me and the cars to the right. No excuse for a motor vehicle to pass a bike in the same lane the bike is using but many drivers don’t have a clue and need things pointed out to them.

I think the important thing is Taxi License 3572. Cambridge is asking residents how to clean up taxi driving, and this is one thing being suggested. Removing drivers that are dangerous to others, or who would like to be, like this guy. Not 2 many years, and he'll be out of a job.

When drivers start moving to the right on overtakes, then maybe cyclists will move to the left!

@plaladinmatt Nothing wrong with that cycling, even the overtake by the taxi was fine. Of course had robojimpip been riding to the left as you suggest, I reckon that taxi driver would have done a fast, close and dangerous overtake, so props to the cyclist for good defensive riding.

Shame on the taxi driver for the ill-informed and ignorant rant - cyclists may use the full lane, and he needs to get over it.

Cab driver is a complete moron, what is he complaining about, he got round or was it because of a little delay of a few seconds.... u are right take the primary possition. Great that u pointed 2 the cam & realise more cyclist are getting cams..
