Studio Noir is a new identity: a collaboration between photographer Sandrine de la Plage and a London-based renowned electronic musician and multimedia artist who wishes to remain anonymous. Studio Noir believe that no further artistic progress is going to come from painting and sculpture. Yet much modern art is soulless. The Studio Noir concept of Visionary Portraits takes Art truely into the 21st century by recontextualising the classic concept of the portrait within the new body of artistic techniques made available by digital electronic technology. Art mirrors evolution and technology IS evolution...this is the first real progress in portrait art since the invention of the camera. It is now possible to paint directly with Light and Studio Noir are the portrait artists to take this challenge up. The term Visionary Portraits embraces this evolution and shows how it can be used to both look into and draw out hidden dimensions of the portrait. This quest for beauty by voyaging into the soul is and has always been the true purpose of Art.
