Terry Collins has stepped down as manager of the Orix Buffaloes,
the Pacific League club said after its 7-3 loss to the Hanshin Tigers
in interleague play Wednesday.
Collins was appointed in the fall of 2006 after Orix finished
fifth in the league in Katsuhiro Nakamura's first year in charge.
But the 58-year-old former Houston Astros skipper has been
unable to turn the team's fortunes around and the Buffaloes finished
bottom of the standings for the first time in three years last season
and have continued to struggle this term.
Collins bolstered the roster this season with the acquisitions
of the likes of Venezuelan slugger Alex Cabrera and outfielder Osamu
Hamanaka, although his cause has not been helped with a series of
injuries to his pitching staff and the team has a 21-28 record after
Wednesday's loss.
Before joining Orix, Collins had been serving as player
development director at the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have a working
relationship with Orix. He managed the Astros from 1994-1996 and the
Anaheim Angels from 1997-1999.
残念!

It's really difficult to see Orix making the Pacific league play-offs this season once again.
It seems Seibu, Nipponham, Softbank and Rakuten are all in hot race for the top 3 finish and I don't think Orix has what it takes to get past them.
I personally hope the Fighters drop out of top 3!
They only have strong defence with ace pitchers such as Darvish and so on.
They aint got firepower in batting and they're still in 2nd place!
Hope Seibu, Softbank and Rakuten make the play-offs...
