My SC400 with a Quantum Auto manual swap kit. Using a W58, this car is extremely streetable and makes the SC400 feel like it should of been from factory.

  • why the v8 and why get the supra tranny if you dont get the supra motor

    @tapion123

    I cannot tell if this is a serious question? Supra tranmission bolts to the crossmember and driveshaft.. and the right position for the shifter... and why the V8? I really hope you dont expect me to get into a debate about this...

  • how long can a W58 hold up to a 1uz...? not the strongest of toyota 5 speeds i heard.

  • @racecardriver467

    Dont believe everything you hear... We have around 10 local cars with 1uz/W58's and no issues and plenty outside of the area with this done.

  • @Redphoenix2k1 I recently just got my second SC400 and my first mod will be your W58 Kit. The only major issue I have is with choosing another ECU and mapping it. There's really no one in my area (that I've heard of) who tunes any of the Lexus platforms, so what would be my best option?

  • What steering wheel is that? is it from like an is model or something?

  • Hey man. I have a 97 5spd SC300 with the stock W58. Would it be an expensive swap to have a shop put a 1UZ in my car, using my 5spd transmission?

    I mean, if I asked them to just do the straight 1UZ swap, that's basically just a bolt in job, right? All they would do is spend a little extra time swapping trannies when my stock engine is out-- and I already have the clutch pedal and all that since my SC is a 5spd already.

    Is the 1UZ noticably stronger than the stock NA 2J, worth the money? thx!!

  • Nice job, i have been reading up on this swap for my own project. im sure you already posted what it cost you so ill just go search for it.

  • I always hear that the W58's can't hold too much power. I wanna do a R154 with a 2uzfe motor. I already have the engine and I'm deciding on which standalone to use with it. If I can get my hands on a V160 then I would jump all over it. One good thing about a 2uz motor is one with a 5speed but one with a 6speed is even sweeter. I already have a couple of little bolt ons on it. Can't wait..

  • @Redphoenix2k1 V8 MASTER RACE!

  • @tapion123 a turbo on a 6 makes power, but it is no V8...

  • @Redphoenix2k1 - Rare with BLK interior.

  • I have the same exact car as yours and certainly its manual and I always wanted to have manual without having to change the engine in it.are you really saying that the supra engine will fit straight to the 1uz engine?also to people who keep saying why not to swap to supra engine-people buy these cars for a reason-and it is the engine! this is one of the best engines I've ever used! had it for 3 years now and pushed it to the limit a lot!if you want the supra engine-buy supra!think bigger people.

  • spray paint it with plasti dip! it will be exactly the same as black interior. I did that and it looks exactly like my friends stock black interior!
