"The Hessians"
German mercenaries from the state of "Hessian-Cassel" in the American War of Independence 1776-1783.
A German Television serial released in 1976, based on the book with the same name written by Sandra Paretti.
The Hessian soldiers were eighteenth-century German regiments hired through their rulers by the British Empire. Though used in several conflicts, they are most widely associated with combat operations in the American Revolutionary War.

Der Winter, der ein Sommer war ist ein 3-teiliger ARD-Fernsehfilm von Fritz Umgelter aus dem Jahre 1976. Gedreht nach Sandra Parettis gleichnamigen Roman mit Günter Strack, Christian Quadflieg und Sigmar Solbach in den Hauptrollen. Der Dreiteiler erzählt die Geschichte hessischer Soldaten in britischen Diensten während des amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieges (1776 - 1783).

@CashRulez89 so you see my USamerican friend that your Contry was built up by many many different People from many different euopean countrys like ireland,england,germany,hollan­d,france,sweden,poland,italy.t­he Prussians were the best continental Army led by Frederik the Great 1 and 2 besides the french napoleans army.the Hessian Troopers were excellent too.but many died from fever or deseases and not from fighting.Anyway History is interesting..

It's interesting that there were germans involved in the american revolution on both sides. the english had hessian mercenaries and the americans had Baron von Steuben who drilled the continental army in prussian style.

Really excellent!!!! We know so little from the German perspective! All I know is that they fought really well and trated quite harshly. would love to see more of this!!!!!
