We've taken Aaaaa! and smashed it together with Musorqua. Here's a quick video. (Backstory: We're Dejobaan Games, LLC, a small, indie game developer located around Boston, MA. Visit us online at www.dejobaan.com!)

  • This is a reeeeeeeeeeeeally simple test of a single gameplay component.

  • I can see the cool aspect of the music, but I can only see prototype 2 even slightly working out, and you'd have to randomize the tracks a bit for me to get into it. ie, not the same drums each time. I think this would be a great "mode" rather than a full-fledged game.

  • This looks awesome.

  • Not really all that fond of either of these. They both look like taking the scoring plate challenges from Aaaaa! and turning them into their own game, with bonus music tracks. I'm not really convinced you could successfully make that element of Aaaa! stand alone, except possibly as an expansion to Aaaaa!.

For my part, I'm still fond of the original Musorqua prototypes, involving the mouse and requiring the player to use dexterity rather than twitch gaming.

  • I like the 2nd prototype better (only plates seems kinda boring to me but I've never really been a huge fan of the plates). The only thing I would change is that personally for best effect I think the levels should be long enough to fit the whole song. The issue with that of course being that you would need to go back and deal with procedurally generating levels which I'm assuming was a nightmare since it got scrapped from the original plan.

  • I actually really like that second prototype. The idea of literally falling into a song is cool and super immersive! That could really be great- haven't played a rhythm game since beatmania many years ago; but this is fresh and leverages what computer games can do for music much better than most rhythm games out now (you all know who you are)! :D

  • Love the look of the second one - you could possibly fit a track or two around Aaa's mechanics, but not sure how to fit the other music elements in.

I definitely think a "falling" game would need the twitch elements, though - the first concept looks a bit dull.

  • Excellent! Seems like a cool idea, and is definitely a twist to the normal rhythm game.

  • this actually looks kinda interesting...

maybe more to it than just falling? power ups. speeds. differed directions? I dunno...

    Good work so far

  • That's right..we know you're hard at work since My Little Pony is watching you.

...THEY ARE ALWAYS WATCHING YOU! D:<

The way things look, it looks like you're heading torwards a 'sequal' of sorts to Aaaaaa! I like it...
