---------------

Electric Blues Euphoria (E.B.E) is a Vancouver-based, guitar-driven blues/funk/rock group. Formed in May of 1995, the trio E.B.E have since become one of the most distinct sounding local bands in the Vancouver B.C., Canada area.

Initially comprised of Matt Smith (guitar/lead vocals), David Evans (drums/percussion), and Tyler Mounteney (bass/backup vocals), E.B.E started out as a talent show project and quickly stood out from the mass of other aspiring high-school bands and musicians. During their formative years, it was evident the group possessed a strong command of their instruments. Whether crafting catchy melodic tunes or letting the music speak through improvisation, E.B.E's talents soon had the band gaining an admirable and loyal following.

In 1998, after winning the Tri-Cities Battle of the Bands three years in a row, their last victory landed them an opening spot for Canadian rock group The Matthew Good Band. Six months later, E.B.E were again asked to open for Matt Good at the SFU Midterm Mayhem food drive. The band continued to play gigs on a regular basis until late 2000, when creative differences resulted in founding bassist Tyler Mounteney leaving the group to pursue other musical interests. Shortly thereafter, E.B.E acquired bassist Geoff Archibald.

With the addition of Geoff, Electric Blues Euphoria was now the unlikely combination of a hard-hitting Santana and Hendrix fan with a taste for instrumental jams, a guitar virtuoso with influences ranging from Joe Satriani to Wide Mouth Mason to Blues Traveller, and a former punker raised on the Chilli Peppers, Bad Religion, and Fishbone. While the band initially continued to play previously penned material, Geoffs bass style helped pave the way for E.B.Es future directions in rock, funk, and blues hybridization.

Through the fusion of diverse musical backgrounds, E.B.E was on its way to creating a more refined, cutting edge sound and in early 2001, the new Electric Blues Euphoria was born. Fast forward to today and you'll hear a number of playing styles: with intricate rhythms, tasteful licks, and impressive chops and solos, Matt lays down catchy riffs and hooks; meanwhile, Geoffs phat bass lines and in-the-pocket grooves hold their own in a style rife with Flea influences. Finally, with the ability to just lay back, keep things cool, or tear into the drums like a carnivore devouring its prey, David Evans' dynamic and powerful drumming takes the rhythm section to a whole new level.

The culmination of all these factors is the creation of a sound which E.B.E pride as being distinctly their own. The end result are songs that allow the band to express themselves and communicate to their audience freely through their instruments, their performances and most of all, their music.
