its the prop size. It has enough resistance that it cant spin fast but it has enough bite/surface area to make a lot of thrust. So it tools along spinning slow but making plenty of juice. Slower prop spin means the rubber band unwinds slower and flies longer.

wow if that first plane had a strong,powerful,and fast enough rubber band(s) then it would fly for many minutes or mabye even an hour
