@HeavenXxX Dominion: directed by Paul Schrader, seen by Morgan Creek studios, they thought it didn't have enough "oomph" and special effects. Morgan Creek fired Schrader, hired Renny Harlin to direct Exorcist: The Beginning (which turned out far worse), and both films (with the same lead actor) have since been released. I was following it day by day when it happened and it's a commonly misunderstood situation. They are two entirely different movies.

I love this version because it seeks to present the Exorcist from a more thoughtful view instead of spewing gore at you.

And it makes perfect sense religiously too. Satan took a disabled boy who people outcast as ugly and turned him handsome, healthy and strong. The opposite of turning pretty little girls into ugly monsters. It wasn't what he was supposed to be.

Sends a nice message of appreciating people for who and what they are instead of falling for superficiality.

Why is everyone judging by this one scene? Dont they know that EVERY HORROR movie has build up and that it is one in a million when you can watch the VERY last scene of a horror movie and get the whole effect of the ENTIRE movie?

I know the story behind this film, along with the fact the Blatty had nothing to do with Exorcist II (which prompt him to write legion AKA exorcist III). and how the story of this film goes is that William Peter Blatty liked this version of the prequel A LOT. I also know that Exorcist: the beginning was created because the movie studio was afraid this one had poor effects plus not a lot of scare tactics (even though the AUTHOR of the ORIGINAL liked this one)...
