May Day Bike Run - Hastings 2009

Held on May 4th 2009, the same day as the Jack In The Green procession.
20,000+ motorbikes descended on Hastings.
What a sight!
This event seems to get bigger every year.
Nobody really knows the origin of why the bikes come to Hastings. Perhaps someone can tell me?

im sure the shop owners absolutely love the may day run.i bet there day profits go up like 500 percent

i tryed to drive down in my car and i couldnt even get close.

The only way to get around on that day is to walk.

The town sure does a roaring trade that day. What with the bikes & the Jack In The Green event as well :)

My first thought on watching this was the contrast between the Jack in the green festival and this one yet both simultaneously going on. They seemed to complement one another somehow with the old and new world colliding but with no paradox somehow. Great video Andy, and I really enjoyed the pics you got of Old Hastings too.
