This could be a great commuting machine, it's an electric powered bike designed by the French company Matra. The aluminum frame hybrid weighs in at just 40 kg (with batteries) and features 100 mm suspension forks and 400 mm front disc brakes up front, plus regenerative braking to extend the battery life. Recharging time is estimated at 3 -- 6 hours.
The MS1 starts via a magnetic card swiped through the LCD display on the handlebars (which also indicates remaining battery power and speed) and an electric alarm is included along with LED lights for night-time commuting.
Another notable feature often omitted from both motorcycle and bicycle design is the ability to adjust the height and depth of the saddle and handlebars. Now this bike should be available for sale in Europe, but no word on whether it'll make it to the States. It will probably be priced around $3500 - 5000$.

  • @Ryvander Here in Australia if a electric bike goes faster than 25km/h it must be registered as a motorcycle. So it's okay to have a powerful ebike here as long as you pay the government TAXES.

  • how fast is the light version for 700c wheels (in mph) ?

what range does it have ?

    thanks

  • i think that its better to just buy a motocycle

  • @BIGPIMPINUPDANYC , i have a 70cc here in australia (motorized bike) i mounted the engine to a hybrid bike (28" 700*38C ) so the max so far i went about 57Kmph

  • @edstar83 I think they would be practical actually, you dont have to charge it :) Great fun. It is a pity that our short sighted state govts in Australia will not allow you to use a Whike.

  • @KrunchyJD True. They give anyone a motor car license. I looked up whike's they're pretty cool. There's youtube videos of them in action actually. But they're not as practical as a bicycle with an electric motor. They'd be more for fun. But I like em.

  • @edstar83 Its only a nanny state in some respects. Its a nanny state when it comes to bikes, and environmentally friendly transport, but when it comes to motorists its almost a free for all. You can drive around in a Ferrari on your P's.

There is also a thing called a whike (google it) basically its a recumbent trike with a small sail, every place the manufacturer's have asked it is legal to ride except one, you guessed where.
