The Lord of the Rings Drawings - Gandalf

Hi everyone, The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy are my favourite movies, so I wanted to make a tribute by drawing characters from the movies, first one is Gandalf, now this drawing was probably my biggest drawing "project" ever, I mean I spent like 15 hours on this drawing maybe even more I just kept adding detail and detail cause I wanted it to look not just like Gandalf but the actor who plays him(Ian McKellen), but that's just me I always try to make the best drawing I can possibly make and this drawing was HARD work so I really hope you like it:)

That is very awesome. Do you have any tips on making people look like the actual people? lol You are great at making them look exactly like the person, which I am still working on. I suppose I will get better with practice, but anything else?

And sorry for asking this (again) but what type of pencils did you use in these?

@LukeExtraordinaire thanks, sorry I dont have any good tips to be honest, besides that I recommend you to always start drawing the eyes because then it's easier measuring out the other facial proportions. Obviously my first portrait drawing wasn't as good as this one, so I practiced a LOT and then the improvements came automatically.

no problem:) I used STAEDTLER sketching pencils of different grades (F,HB,2B,4B...)

how did you learn to work with shadow on faces and like that ?

@loaded88 Ahh yes I noticed you always start with the eyes. Thanks for the pointers. I am sure it will help me improve
