After Texas, we headed to Chicago. On the way we passed about 17 Springfields, but the one in Illinois is where Steve's (our American tourmanager and homie) live. Also, it is said that this is the Springfield where the Simpsons live. We didn't get to see them.
We did visit Steve's parents. They were super nice; they cooked us a fresh meal, with lasagna, meatballs, salad and very nice wine. We had discussions about the elections, the healthcare situation in the US, and about Steve when he was young. It was great meeting them.
Then, after a very long drive, we arrived in Chicago where we swapped the ugly RV for the much bigger, stylisher and efficient one. A Winnebago, that's the largest manufacturer of RV's in America. It has a slideout living room! We must not forget to slide it in when driving.... Numark, our super loyal sponsor, supported us in paying for the rent. We couldn't have done the tour without them, so we want everybody to know how cool they are. My buddy Peter designed the stickers for me, and taught me how to stick 'm to a surface. I hope they'll come off....
The first Chicago gig was around the corner from where Justice played the same night... Here you see their little shitty tourbus. The next day we woke up, ready for my morning wee.... BRRRRR!! Snow! A lot! We where caught in a serious blizzard. In order to get the slideout in, Jori went up the roof to remove to snow. He didn't realize he couldn't get off easily, so he had to jump. I was supposed to catch him, but instead he smashed his chin on my knee. Sorry buddy. (No problem! Thanks for catching me in the first place. J.)
Next show was in The Tonic Room, a nice little bar run by Nick. The 'backstage' area was in the basement, now that's underground. Here he tells us about how that place is haunted... when they reconstructed the bar they found this ancient dagger!!
The next footage is me and Steve playing around with these supercool handcrafted musical robots, which we bought in Austin at Manny's shop, DJ Dojo. They make funny noises obviously, but the cool thing about it is that they react to light. We spent hours f*cking around with these fellas.
Next footie shows the moment that we realize how heavy the schedule actually is... Shows everyday, miles away from eachother. Kip explains how he feels guilty about not having a drivers license. And then, all of a sudden... it's his birthday! That's incense you see him toking, yeah. Incense.
