Hi joepra62
I have made the Macrium Reflect CD restore Boot disc but when I put in drive all I get is the black screen with:
Boot from CD-ROM
ISOLINUX 3.07 2005-01-12 Copyright 1994-2005 H. Peter Anvin
Then it Freezes.
I have checked the Bios order and it shows "USB or CD-ROM DRIVE " as first entry.
Is it Possible to resore using my Dell Restore disc then just overwrite with saved image from External HD OR do I have to use the Macrium Reflect Restore CD?
Thanks
Keith

One more question: Can i boot from an external hard drive instead of a CD?

Hi i've gott a couple of questions.1. What is a rescue CD; does it copy all the files on the hard drive? 2. Is a disk image something that you can use to boot your pc with if it doesn't boot? 3. Do you have to have a DVD burner or can you have a CD writer. 4. Is there any difference between copying all your files to an external hard and making a rescue CD? Thanks

Hello Joepa62
I downloaded the free version of Macrium and was wondering it it's worth purchasing the full Macrium Effect since I've already made my Boot CD and already have Windows set to run back up anyway weekly ? Or should I just purchase the software and rely on that and not Windows back up and restore. So may things out now it's confusing to the customer.
Wonderful Video that thank you for the great assistance.
Regards,
Dean

Hi! Joepra62, I like to know specifically about creating the recovery cd. Do we need to create (image disk and rescue cd) or we only create (rescue cd without image disk) in order to get back what its like before in the computer.
All your programs and settings will be working EXACTLY as they were when the image was created. This is much better than using Original CDs to bring your computer to where it was when you bought it. The CD created is onlt to recognise your EXternal hard drive and start Macrium Reflect without Windows

Continued So to be clear , Wth all 3 parts of this series you create a CD taht will start your computer and Macrum without Windows. You will create an exact copy of your hard drive with all your programs installed and working (disk image) This will be on an external hard drive or such. Then when something goes wrong, You use the CD to start Reflect on your computer without Windows. then Reflect Overwrites your computers hard drive with the image you created earlier.

One Question i don't have the restore cds for my computer can i just do this and the rescue cd is the same as a restore cd ?

No, not at all. What we do here is Use Macrium Reflect to make a copy of your hard drive when it is working, and save it on an external hard drive. We also create a CD that starts your computer without Windows, loads Macrium Reflect in order to copy back the disk image to your hard drive.
When this is done your computer will be EXACTLY as it was when the disk image was created not as it was when your bought it. There is nothing unique to your computer on the CD.
