Hi, I'd have a question. It looks like you can place those dots everywhere but when I try to draw something, it allows me to place dots only on the lines

Yes, but it could be very hard to do if you try painting it with a mouse. A better way would be to cut and paste from a photo or use a tablet to paint it.
Anyway, glad you liked the vid.

It has been a long time since I worked on this, but usually I set the dodge tool very low...5% - 10% to avoid the highlights getting too strong.

hey i have photoshop cs4 and my dodge tool doesent work on certain colors. know why?

@Techrave1 It does that sometimes. Try changing the mode to highlights or shadows, see if that helps.

No problem, most of my pictures start off really messy and freaky. I always prefer to work rough and then tidy things up later. :)

Amazing tutrial. Great techniques shown aswell. you could create very good art, if you master them. very good for beginners too.

Thanks for the kind comments. This tutorials is really old now, but I'm really glad to see people can still learn the basics from it.
