I learned everything on the job, started out in rotoscoping, then paint, then junior compositing, the senior, then start supervising sequences when I got to Weta.

I think they have schools for this sort of thing now but there is nothing like on the job training.

Nice work.  I grew up on this shit. Are you doing stuff on The Hobbit as well? Hope that's coming along well.

@axgrindr holy crap o_O that's a lot of time for such a short scene...

i think such scenes are underrated, many people can't see how much work there is behind...

@lorin1996 Yeah, that different rooms were done with miniatures. I think each room had probably 8 or 10 different lighting passes that had to be maxed together. Then orcs had to be tracked into each of the different scenes. Then each section had to be put together into one seamless scene and the CG bats added throughout. The part at the top was a completely separate comp added onto to everything.

I guess this shot probably took about 3 weeks to put together.
