Prop 8 Lawyer Admits: No Harm to Straight Couples

Here's the Prop 8 proponents' lead counsel, Charles Cooper, at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on December 8th, admitting that marriage equality wouldn't harm any heterosexual marriages. That's why they want to hold LGBT judges to a different standard than straight judges.

That's like saying -- we're not suggesting that the legislation would harm any "particular" business -- we're just saying that it would harm "Business" in general -- in years to come. Down the road. Without actually harming any actual, particular business, specifically. In particular. They'll all be fine. But in general -- they'll be harmed. Eventually.

@octopibingo The problem is if there's a different title there's a tendency towards discrimination. I don't care much about the NAME for a gay union as opposed to a straight one, but it's like the seperate but equal plan. A system that discriminates/seperates two groups tends to build inequalities between those two.

The big problem is gays having equal rights in their union, and frankly that matters a lot more than the definition of a word.

@octopibingo its not about feeling bad, its about having the same rights and privileges as everyone else. Currently you can marry the person you love, legally have the right to visit them in the hospital and share legal responsibilities towards each other. Not allowing us the same rights as you dose harm us, its not about feeling bad and you feeling bad about me marring the woman I love is a non factor in determining if I should have the right to do so.

What harm would it do homosexual couples if the definition of marriage stayed the same as it has been for thousands of years? None? Exactly right.

Unless you say they won't "feel" good about it. Okay. I won't "feel" good about having the government endorsing a small minority's sexual behavior as normal. And since I'm in the vast majority, I'd rather you "feel" bad than I.

Did you know that if we allow gay marriage that means that all straight marriage is going to be null and void, yup the gays will make it to where only they can get married. We must be afraid of the Rainbow Agenda!
