my dad is in this band, and i can honestly say that he is the most innovative and hard working person i've ever met. i've never seen borbeto or the new monuments perform live, but just seeing him perform live makes me even more proud of him. :)

Industrial jazz?

This would be the funniest thing on youtube if you don't come to the crippling realisation that people in the audience are pseudo-serious
-
If you dont get it now, you won't get it ever.

I am puzzled but very much curious about this band, as someone who enjoys searching for music to challenge my ears. If any Borbetomagus fan would kindly fill me in on what it is that draws them to this band and their music I'd be very grateful. It is very original, I grant you, but does it still count as music? Or is it more a *pretension alert* 'sonic soundscape', or just some guys messing around with weird noises? There must be something to it, given the attention they receive. What say you?

Well, free jazz /improv or noise is a form of music; not for everyone (judging by the comments on my video); but still its music. Personally this kind of music is best as a live experience. This show was amazing, but not something I generally sit at home and listen to. All I can say is go see it live if you can. Either you will like it or you will not. Art is subjective.

Thank you, interesting. But what is it about the show that is compelling? I must say I feel tempted should they ever comeby near London way.

I dont know. I guess it supprised me. 3 older gentlemen completely blowing everyones eardrums, with an insane wall of noise....noise that normally doesnt come out of a sax or a guitar. I was either laughting or sitting there with my jaw dropped. You know the feeling you get at a good live show...cant always explain it; its just good.
