According to a leading human rights group, the Shell Corporation has been covering up catastrophic oil spills in the Niger Delta by blaming them on sabotage by local people. Amnesty International says those living there are suffering a "human rights tragedy" inflicted by decades of environmental damage caused in large part by Royal Dutch Shell.
Independent auditors estimate that up to 13 million barrels of oil have been spilled in the Delta, an amount equivalent to an Exxon Valdez disaster every year for 40 years. Nigeria's own watchdog reports that there are 2,000 current spills, the majority of them from Shell operations.

  • Shell has done a lot more damage than Bp has done. The only difference is that the Nigerian media is not broadcasting Shells act of environmental depletion/ degradation...

  • This is worse than the BP DISASTER!! they have been destroying the planets greatest reasources.

  • @JREwingofDallasTexas U.S. has its own reserves of natural gas which could suppy us and other countries. Bottom line is if people want to get something done it'll get done eventually we just have to wait untill petroleum isn't worth the negatives and then this is where people will move to I belive

  • @supermike2164 oh yes, because it's a well known fact that natural gas production in the NIGER DELTA is extremely friendly to the environment, and the people living there. :L

  • @JREwingofDallasTexas Right now I'm helping to transfer a coal burning power plant into a natural gas power plant!

now if natural gas can power the turbines and engines in a Southern Company POWER PLANT!! then natural gas is strong enought to power our little vehicles!

The electric and natural gas hybrid technology would EASILY replace the power we get from petroleum. only thing in its way is the oil families

  • @supermike2164 well as it happens i have a spare bit of cash lying around so if you could let me know what these viable alternatives are, because i've yet to see them, then I might well invest.

  • @JREwingofDallasTexas there are many viable oil replacements but we have to replace the oil familes

  • @supermike2164 I'm sorry but until you can find a viable replacement for oil, then it's oil that's gonna remain the planet's most important resource (besides the obvious one that is water).

  • GO TO HELL SHELL

  • @iadejo

took the words right out of my mouth........
