Billie Whitelaw steals it, as she did in many films in which she appeared...

Surprising quality for a free movie:)

I don't know why but Kenneth Haigh plays Bonaparte exactly as I would imagine him. Better than Steiger in Waterloo. He seems slightly more sarcastic in some places, pretentious and even warm-hearted. A magnificent performance in my opinion.

Does anybody knows an historical source which confirms Napoleon's attempt to escape as shown at 0:50?

I forgot about the "crimes against humanity"... The British-Spanish floating concentration camps at Cabrera and elsewhere don't get mentioned (surprise surprise), but accusations of torture etc. are levelled at General Bertrand and others. Abysmal.

Just one little "hic"... O'Meara was fired by Lowe because he was openly favourable and respectful toward the Emperor (it's also been strongly suggested that he was fired because he refused to poison his patient). O'Meara even published "A Voice from Saint Helena" to tell people what a great man his august patient was. Great cinema though (the fictitious (and foiled) escape attempt aside).
