Globalstar still has limited amount of time that your in coverage (as of August 2010), I find about 20-25 minutes an hour your in coverage, and usually thats only for 10-15 minutes at a time, twice an hour. Hardly reliable. Go for Iridium, they don't have gaps in coverage.
I read that Globalstar will be back in business all the way by next summer(2010). They are launching new satellites or fixing them...not sure exactly, but I will probably be getting one by next spring.
