Nobody can stop huge multinational corporates operting as they wish, even the state is powerless to stop these greedy men behind Shell and other corporates. They just suck all the resources out of your country and leave immediately after all is taken! You need to go protest your corrupt governement if you want to save Ireland, only that way you can have effects!

They all protest for protests sake. Shell has done nothing wrong. If they want to protest go and protest your pathetic government - not shell. Shell employs thousands of Irish people

Well that is true to an extent, there is an element of garda sympathy.

Well, they are more friendly and understanding than some police forces in America, Germany or Britain. Probably some of them agree with the protestors but are afraid of losing their jobs if they help them.

So if the law orders us to cut off our own arms for no reason you'd do it? Sounds like a fascist dictatorship. I thought we lived in a democracy where we vote on the law, and I can't remember normal people allowed to vote for or against a Shell gas well. That's undemocratic.

These are not all hippies, and hippies are not ignorant, the normal people are ignorant. They cannot see what horrible things some politicians are doing, and it's up to us anarchists and portestors to inform them about it and help them to take action against governmental corruption.
