Why bother w/ a remake if you sing it the exact same way as the original? The mildly updated musical arrangement was good, too bad she didn't alter her stinging style and make the song her own. Still, its a classic song and will last longer than Queen Latifah and Phoebe Snow combined.

I think it's great. How would you prefer her to sing it...ghetto/rap style? That's the cool thing about Latifah...she can go from rap style to classy.

I figure that sometimes we forget that singers are regular folks like us and sometimes they simply want to do something because THEY ENJOY IT doing it (that way).
And for me...well thats a good enuff reason for anyone to remake anything in anyway...cuz they enjoyed doing it 'like that'.

no offense ...intended.got my support too. just remember how we get turn out away from ourselves or away from representing our depth. like toni braxton came out beautiful natural look the next thing i know i see her paraded nude on a cover. dng! that is the same for envogue. they looked like someones beautiful african daughters then after one year of being worked on they came out looking totally different. true we can do it how we want but what happened when we dont wanna be that of our most

Hmmmm. . .actually she first learned jazz, then went to rap, and now she has come full circle. . .if you like her as much as you claim, perhaps you should get to know Dana?

la dont need no approval from nobody. it aint classy so much as mature. by being such a force in the mainstream, she opens doorways. she can do whatever the frak she wants and she got my full support.

She is doing what she wants to do and loving it.
She is doing a great job at it.
You have a problem with that?
