Francis Gurry Addresses IP and Innovation Policy at GTIF

WIPO Director General Francis Gurry addressed the topic of "Intellectual Property and Innovation Policy: 2012 Year in Review" at the Global Technology Impact Forum (GTIF), an annual event organized by the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI). The GTIF provides a forum for effective collaboration between IP professionals, senior leaders in science, government and LES members.

Invited by LESI, Mr. Gurry underscored that as the world economy recovers from the global financial crisis, innovation will remain essential in sustaining long-term economic growth and improving human development.

He highlighted WIPO's activities and participation in efforts to improve the global IP system, including its work to facilitate globally collaborative solutions to challenges in the area of innovation and public health, and to facilitate the development of national and regional innovation policies and strategies to promote economic, social and cultural development.
