what about video game adaptations? most are horrible around the time this was made and not much has changed.

Ironic that "Wild Cards" would be a contributor to the expansion of the comic book medium like Watchmen was! I believe that the RPG was called "Champions." This game, along with Dungeons & Dragons, prompted Marvel and publishers in other mediums to adapt their storylines and characters to RPG format as well.
