Congresswoman Diana DeGette (CO-01) is interviewed by CBS 4 Denver about the salmonella outbreak in eggs. DeGette is on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce's Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, which held a hearing to investigate the outbreak on September 22, 2010. DeGette is also an original co-sponsor of the Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009, which would update our country's food safety system to more adequately prevent and respond to outbreaks of foodborne illness. The House passed the Food Safety Enhancement Act in July of 2009 with broad, bipartisan support.
