Have just seen on the news headlines today that ministers are saying students should not worry about the long term paying of fees. Who ARE THEY TO TALK!!!! None of this nasty lot EVER had to pay fees themselves for pete sake. What Cameron said about the riots being purely criminal applies equally here. I hope our young people never forget the way the nation has targetted them for the debt crisis which was never their fault and really punish us in years to come.
The impact on 'disadvantaged children' will be nothing. They pay it back at the same rate as a rich boy does. I'm the disadvantaged one for having parents who earn too much and thus I can't recieve any bursaries. Why do the government assume my parents will give me money just because they make more themselves? p.s. Sod the BBC.

So Simon Hughes is defending a policy that he couldn't bring him self to vote for. The title of this channel says it all really.

OK so if you're on £21k as soon as you leave university, at £7.50/month after 30 years you will pay back: £2700 (less than before)
on £50k salary after 30 years you will pay back: £16200
on £100k salary at £200/month you will pay it back after about 12 or so years.
So it seems to me it's the higher earners who will get shafted while the lower earners will get a better deal out of it, compared to the old scheme.
