LIONEL
NY's PIX 11 News Commentary
Aired: July 12, 2011

Christian Lopez caught Jeter's 3000th hit. Herein, the issues: legal, tax, name it. It's thoroughly fascinating. At least to me.

  • uh, technically, it IS a gift as long as the face value isn't more than $9,999, it isn't taxable under the law...I am told it is probably worth more than that, BUT it doesn't really HAVE a value attached, sure you can add up the ticket price and the parking fee waived, but what are they really asking for here? He already pays taxes, student loans and interest on said loans, why a need to soak such a nice guy for more, unless you are trying to muscle him out of one games worth of tickets...greed

  • The real question, Lionel is: why is there such thing as the IRS?

  • it's simple, the IRS is made up of greedy fuckers who want a cut of everything. It's the legalized mafia. The US didn't even have income tax before the 20th century
