  • SleepyG...sounds just like MY story. 15+ yrs. ago-too many shocks to count; fractured Metronic liead; lots of fear/joy...however, even though i know "it's my life saver"-my quality of life SUCKS. I'm reclusive; friends/family are reluctant to tell me "things that may upset me"; lots of "side effects" from meds; lots of Medi-Medi confusion, etc. Only good thing is my name is CONNIE so i go by SHOCKA CON! ha!

  • I received my first one 15 years ago. ICD #4 was implanted last year. 83 shocks, one fractured lead and still ticking :D

  • Last wensday my ICD did his work. It is odd idee that otherweis I shout be dead now. Instead of I have gone on holliday . I'm a woman of 58 years old.

  • The unit I have is a Medtronic Secura VR D23VRC. I'm a university student from Slough, studying in Bournemouth. My condition is quite rare apparently, it's a rhythm disorder called Hassiguerre Syndrome (not sure of the spelling) that causes my heart to fibrillate when I exercise too much, so as long as I'm careful when I do exercise, it should never have to shock me.

  • i would like to know where you are and do you know your make of icd. i live the south west of england on dartmoor so getting out is hard cannot drive for two years.yes shockeds do suck my last one had friends round try had to sit down but every time it go`s off it saves our life . . .

  • I just had one put in too, I'm only 19 though! I'm one of the lucky ones I suppose. They think I have Hassiguerre Syndrome (still not sure if that's how it's spelt.) Having a cardiac arrest at 19 is indeed quite a shocking thing to be told!

  • Sucks to be shocked though...
