April 11, 2009 -- the Iowa Chops, wearing special yellow jerseys to commemorate "LIVESTRONG Night," gather, then salute a record crowd of 12,136 at center ice at Wells Fargo Arena. The Chops lost the season finale, 5-3, to AHL West Division rival Quad City.

  • Chops were fun in a lot of ways. Some great players (e.g. Bobby Ryan) spent a season -- or most of one in Des Moines. Too bad AHL hockey didn't stick in central Iowa. As for the yellow ice ... epic indeed!
